Mr. Cavanaugh was initially associated with the firm from 1989 to 1993 and rejoined the firm in 2001. Before rejoining the firm, he maintained a solo practice in Jersey City and also served as a Municipal Public Defender. From 1997-2001 he served as a Councilman for the City of Jersey City, and as a Trustee of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority. Mr. Cavanaugh also served as a Trustee of the Bayonne Medical Center after it entered into bankruptcy (May 2007-April 2009) and was instrumental in saving the Hospital, which continues to serve the Bayonne community.
The primary focus of Mr. Cavanaugh’s practice is real estate development, municipal land use and municipal law. His comprehensive knowledge of municipal government and its associated departments and agencies, provides a unique component to the firm’s ability to achieve client goals. Mr. Cavanaugh’s practice areas also include environmental tort litigation, personal injury/automobile tort litigation, worker’s compensation, landlord/tenant, and Municipal Court matters.
